Learn how to affirm your child's existence as a mixed-race person
in the world and raise confident, secure mixed-race kids!
The Mixed Life Academy
Your child NEEDS you to show up for them and help them build resilience to face a world
that will judge them, question them, and misunderstand their experience.
Mixed-race children fare much better in life when they do not have to figure out how to navigate the world and their mixed-race identity on their own.
As a parent, you might be met with a flood of thoughts as your child grows and you worry that you’re ill-equipped to handle this area of your kid’s life. You’re feeling a need for help with raising a healthy mixed-race child.
Breathe! It’s completely normal!
It’s normal to not be able to stand the thought of your mixed-race child facing the pressure to choose or encounter rejection by peers or being somehow isolated by society.
And it hurts your heart even deeper to think of your own family members treating your child differently and you don’t know how to help or what to say.
You’re worried the treatment, questions, and comments your kid will get could cause some sort of “identity complex.”
You fear the day or have already noticed your kid is getting some negative comments and questions about “what” they are and you feel your answers might not be good enough.
You have SO MUCH power as a parent to make sure your child feels protected and validated.
But you just want to be validated to make sure you…
Know what to say and what is the “right” thing to do when it comes to parenting a mixed race kid.
Get RID of that fear of somehow "making it worse" by talking to your kids about race!!
You need a community—a place where you and other parents can learn how to raise confident and secure mixed race kids together.
A place where you will get year-round education and coaching to ensure you’re addressing the racial identity needs of your mixed race kids.
It’s hard for your child to be living in a society that needs to put literally everything about our identity into a specific category when you and they both know that those strict boxes just don’t fit.
You get this and since you can't change society, you want to have the tools to empower your mixed race kid to make it out there!
You want them to have the confidence to make ongoing decisions and most importantly feel supported by you, their monoracial parents, as they live life as a mixed race person.
Testimonials
I created this Academy because I know mixed race kids can go out into the world and be confident and secure if only they learned how to affirm themselves and their existence in the first "world" they live in—their home.
What’s included in this year-round membership?
☑
This learning community was created for busy parents who have packed schedules and may not be able to attend a short-term course that ends and leave them stranded when a racial incident comes up and they need support.
☑
This is an online learning community where parents can get in-depth knowledge on all facets of raising mixed-race kids.
☑
You will have a weekly lesson via video covering topics under the 3 pillars important to affirming a mixed-race child's identity, and lessons will include activities and worksheets.
☑
Plus, each week there will be a live coaching call with ME where parents can ask questions, discuss what they learned in the lessons, and explore further what they need to do to best parent their mixed-race child. Live calls are always recorded and stored so parents can go back and watch (I know life gets busy!)
☑
You can also join the private Facebook group so that you can communicate with other parents to share triumphs, epiphanies and ask questions.
☑
This membership is perfect you can watch (or listen to) live calls at your convenience and plan ahead to join live when you can.
☑
Life happens and the goal is this membership is as affordable and accessible as possible. (I mean, it's support - not a burden or one more thing "to do!")
Throughout the year, we will cover various topics and
lessons that fall under my framework for becoming an
Identity Affirming Parent. All learning will be based on
and fall under my 3 pillars.

Ready to break down barriers and start affirming
identity development in your own home?
What’s up?! I’m Dr. Jennifer Noble AKA Dr. Jenn!
I am a parent coach who helps parents understand the racial identity needs of their mixed race kids.
I have been a part of and working in the mixed race community for a looong time. I found the mixed race community when I was in college while doing an independent study (research is MEsearch, they say...) and my life was changed. I read articles about my own experience and was like [brain explosion]. I attended events and met other folks like me and learned from folks who were researching people like me.
I became a passionate leader in the mixed race community, working for a nonprofit organization that's been around for over 25 years. I have worked with academics, community activists, artists, organizers, and visionaries who all care deeply about raising awareness about the mixed race experience.
I have served so many families in various ways and recognized the desperate need of parents who wanted to be there for their mixed race kids. Their need fuels me to continuing to serve my community in the best ways I know how — helping parents understand their mixed race kids.
My "day job" as a clinical psychologist and a college professor gives me some serious skills in helping others understand and empathize with the mixed race experience.
But when you add my lived LIFE as a mixed race person, I realized I unlocked a trifecta of superpowers!!
That’s why I created this membership program for parents — I want to use my superpowers for good! I want to reach families before the stressors of a marginalized, mixed race identity become too great. I want to equip parents to make decisions that can have a lasting, positive impact. I want to share what I live and what I know with more families, sooner. I want parents to know there is a community, there are resources and there is a framework for building resilient mixed race kids!
I want to reach the future mixed race adults who need their parents to learn this information TODAY.
If you’re a parent of a mixed race kid looking to gain empathy and understanding for your mixed race kid and you don’t know where to start, this is your starting line. You’re in the right place to find insight, tools, guidance, and community for raising confident and secure mixed race kids.
Here’s the truth you might not be ready for…
but you really need to hear.
For every mixed race kid who struggles with their racial identity, there is a parent (or a set of parents) who didn't say/do something when the kid needed it. I hear too many stories that include, "if my parents only taught me how to handle ______" or "if my parents only helped me understand ________."
I hate to say it, but there are a lot of parents that do and say damaging, racist things to their kids—some on purpose, some out of ignorance. There are parents who give unhelpful advice that doesn’t address their kids' needs.
AND I also know that there are so many parents who don't know how to approach being mixed race with their kids, but they know they need to.
They worry about what to say, how to respond to what their kids experience. A lot of parents worry about how to handle comments and questions from others and how to stand up for their child in front of family who may make racist commentary.
I want parents to get more than they can find in the average Facebook group where they get more opinions, debates, and hair care tips (not knocking help with hair care… but parents need more.) I want parents to get information from someone who lives the mixed race experience and can speak to it from a personal perspective AND have that information be backed by years of research on the population.
I want parents to get info on the development of their child and their racial identity by someone who has an expertise in psychology and in identity development.
Parents always worry about "saying the wrong thing" so they often just don't say anything at all!! We can’t have that! Parents don't want to just talk to other parents who are searching for the same answers they are. They want to hear from someone who lived it (me), can tell their own stories and give them HOPE, but who also can back up their advice and guidance with education and research on the community.

Questions about investing in affirmation of
your child’s identity?
-
Absolutely! If you can’t attend the weekly live coaching calls, each call will be recorded and stored in a portal to watch your convenience.
-
No! You can pay monthly and cancel before the next month renews. The beauty of joining annually is that you'll get more opportunities to ask questions, learn and deepen your understanding over time! (and you get two months free).
-
We do want your child to have had some experience living as a mixed-race child—talking, making friends, going to school—and some ability to process what they experience. We also want you as parents to have observed some of your child's experiences as well. It is best if your child is 5 and up, but depending on your child's experiences and needs, perhaps you could benefit from this program with a kid as young as 3 or 4.
-
NO! This program is for mixed race children of ANY background! Whether your child has a Black parent, Asian parent, White parent or a parent from any other nationality or racial group, this course will help you understand the experience of being a part of more than one group at the same time. While many other online coaching programs may focus on children with a Black parent, this membership academy is more inclusive and focuses on the shared experiences that mixed race people of many different backgrounds share.
-
NOPE! This program is for PARENTS of mixed race kids. When it comes to mixed race children, having BOTH parents involved and playing a role in helping them understand themselves in a racial way is of utmost importance. This program is also for ANY parent who is monoracial and has a mixed race child. That means single parents, same-sex parents, adoptive parents, etc!
-
There will be "hot seat" moments during coaching calls to allow a family to present their specific experiences and questions as it relates to the topic we're covering. And there will be opportunities to ask questions and learn from other parents’ experiences.
-
If your child has not yet graduated high school or left home to attend college or live on their own then it is not too late to benefit from this membership group.
-
This is not a program or a training. Learning to affirm your mixed race child and teach them resilience to be confident and secure when they step into the world is a journey. It has twists and turns and will create growth and discovery in you over time, as well as your child. By joining without an end in mind, you can allow yourself to sink into finding the empathy for the world your child is living in and really begin to see what they are set to face from a different perspective. There are definitely books out there to give you an overview of important aspects of raising a mixed race kid, but learning HOW to do it and putting new behaviors and approaches in practice needs your time and investment from your heart.
-
Yes! Although there are very specific needs for transracial adoptees, this academy will teach you about the mixed race experience and what you can do as their parent to best meet their needs.
